Transparent Backgrounds Tutorial in Photoshop

Many objects can be more valuable without their surroundings, such as logos. In addition to being a watermark or copyright sign, a symbol also acts as a brand identity. It cannot look pleasing to the eye if the backdrop is behind the logo. It has a professional look due to transparent background.

The question is, how do you make it? How do you make the perfect photo cutout? Do you know how to make Photoshop transparent? You might think that it is too complex, not for me. But what do you think? Almost any school kid can try it because it is easy. Yeah, you heard us right. To complete this project, we recommend you follow our tutorial. That is where you are

Getting started is the next step.

Tips For Transparent Background

Step 1: Open The Adobe Photoshop Document.

The photo background cannot be transparent if you do not have Photoshop open? You cannot do it! To get started, first open the software. The two most common ways of opening Photoshop software are to right-click on the picture and open with > Photoshop or navigate the image directly using the software.

Step 2: Adjust The Picture Backgrounds.

The bottom right corner of the interface is where the software displays a Layers panel. To do this, go to the Windows tab and select Layers. As a result, the Layers window will appear. View the layer named Background in the Layers panel? You can rename it by double-clicking it.

By clicking twice, a panel appears in which you can rename the layer. Name the layer as you wish.

Step 3. Select The Object.

There are two ways to select an object. Photoshop offers two different methods for finding transparent images: manually or using the automatic selection tool. In this post, we will explore both options. To begin, first, check out the intelligent selection approach.

Part 1: Background Removal And Automatic Selection.

Creating a blurred background for an image is also called punching out the backdrop. That is just what we will do here! Do you see the Properties section on the right side of the interface? For faster access, you can select the Windows tab and select Properties. Then, click Quick Action. By clicking on Quick Action, choose Remove Background.

That is it. Just that simple. Why then do we have to do it manually? Because the software will sometimes incorrectly predict the subject(s), older versions of Photoshop do not have this functionality. Is it possible to manually select an object? So, let us take a look.

Part 2: Object Selection Manually.

Place your eye on the toolbar to manually select the object. Can you see the Quick Selection tool? Select it. It is also possible to use the Magic Wand selection tool. Nevertheless, the Quick Selection tool enables you to fine-tune the selection by controlling the brush size. Choose a subject by using the + and – signs on the top of the interface. You can manually select objects in Photoshop to create transparent images.

Step 4: Edit the Selection.

To refine your selection, click on Select and Mask, and if you do not see the option, go to Select > Select and Mask. Refer to the image for reference.

Make adjustments as needed. This image has improved by increasing the radius, smoothness, and contrast. In addition, we have opted for 100% transparency in Photoshop to create a transparent background for the image. It is imperative to save it in a new layer. Check the output settings if you are still having trouble.

Step 5: Remove The Backdrop.

There are two layers now, one with the entire database and the other only the object. It is possible to delete layer o, and the image will have a transparent background. Alternatively, if you need to make the selection more granular, you can also use the Lasso tool.

Step 6: Save The Picture.

The image has to export before being saved. Go to File > Export > Quick Export as PNG. What’s the point of exporting it as PNG? When you use a file format other than png, the backdrop will be solid rather than transparent.

Pro tip: You may have already downloaded the image, but you should also save the PSD file (Photoshop file). So you can modify the image later if and when needed.

Can’t find the PNG format?

The PDF document must save as PNG. Then, if you have not, you might have been editing the picture in CMYK format and won’t be able to use it to incorporate a watermark into your images. It’s okay, too. All it takes is a conversion from CMYK to RGB if you create the work in any other format. Easy! Then the PNG is ready.
